ORRS HILL

One of the most well-known tea-producing countries is Sri Lanka. In the 1800s, Scotsman named James Taylor introduced tea to Sri Lanka (then known as Ceylon). He established a tea plantation in Kandy and began producing tea. In Kandy, he made his first transaction, kicking off the expansion of Sri Lanka’s tea business.

The success of tea cultivation in Sri Lanka is mainly due to favourable climatic conditions. Tea plantations comprise 4% of the country’s total land area.
